Celtics Head Coach Jim O'Brien set to resign at 6 pm today

Jim O'Brien, the coahc who tookever successfully for Rick Pitino, is set to resign this evening. What this means for the Celtics is yet to be determined. Hopefully this does not pave the way for Ainge to take over the coaching duties. I feel the two positions (coaching and personel) should be controlled by seperate people who interact with each other in a clear vision of where the team is going.

O'Brien has displayed some dismay over the trades that Ainge has made this year.

Perhaps another former Celtic might be in the mix for the next Head Coach job. People such as Dennis Johnson and Robert Parrish have coaching experience.

Why hasnt the Chief been brought in to tutor young Kendrick yet?

Aaron boone out for the year?

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1719255

Reports are out that Yankees third baseman Aaron Boone did damage to his ACL. If it turns out to be a complete tear then he would be out for the season following surgery.

Finally the nets got rid of Byron Scott. Unfortunatly they did it too late since they let Eddie Jordan escape to Washington this past summer.

Bush's State of the union

I am glad that Bush felt it so important to the country to say that steriods are BAD. Its good to see where his priorities lie. There is nothign else important to talk about in the time he used to talk about steriods? Is it the presidents place to talk about Major Sports Leagues?

I believe we all know that steriods are bad and players shoudl not be using them, but why is Bush speaking on it?

As a result, the Patriots will return to the championship game for the second time in three years, the first AFC franchise to advance to three Super Bowls in the salary-cap era.

"We're a thinking man's team," said Harrison, who snuffed out the Colts' first drive with an interception in the end zone and also registered 10 tackles. "And if you're going to try to think along with us, to match wits with Belichick, man, you're going to come out of the game with a headache."

I Need 2 tickets!!

I am looking for 2 super bowl tickets in case anyone is looking to sell!!

I will look at anything under $1000, or anyone selling for face value!

Pats are headed to houston!!!

The pats beat the Colts 24 - 14 today to win the AFC and are headed to Houston for their 2nd trip to the superbowl in 3 years! Ty Law had 3 of the Pats interceptions on the day. Though there was a slight snow for the first half, it did not effect the game dramatically. Jarvis Green also came up huge with 4 sacks.

Indy scored with 2:27 left to make it a touchdown game at 21-14 but the pats recovered the onside kick and then marched down the field where Adam Vinatieri knocked in his 5th field goal to put the pats up by 2 scores, to essentially clinch the game.

Look for the Pats to be fairly heavy favorites in the super bowl no matter which team(Carolin/Philly) comes out of the AFC.

Not a bad game to watch even if you were not a colts/pats fan.

Go Pats!

PAts vs Colts today and the snow has arrived. The Current weather forcast in foxboro is calling fro SNOW!

Go pats!

Marino is the new Miami GM

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1706638

Dan Marino is now the senior vice president of football operations. MArino of course, has no experience in this position. This is definatly and odd move by the Dolphins. No one had know that Dan had professed any interest in the job. THis is similar to the move that the Detriot Lions mad when they made Matt Millen their GM. Of course we found out how that worked out (no road wins in 3 years).

WEll the Dolphins can't really get much worse, by teasing their fans with good Septembers and HORRIBLE December crashes. Of course I have thought this team and its defense has been overrated for a while now. Jason taylor and Zach thomas are overated players themselves. However they do have a good secondary including some good corners. They need to get rid of fielder and get a QB in there that can be a weapon.

In hindsight the celts/cavs trade ...

look spretty good for the Cavs. I was watchign them tonight against the lakers. I think having Kedrick Brown and Eric williams in the starting lineup is exactly what the Cavs needed. Williams gives them a tough nose defender who can score some on offense when needed. Kedrick gives LeBron an athletic swingman who can get out and run with LeBron and finish. He is lookign better now that he is getting more consistant minutes with the Cavs.

For the celtics, this trade will look better if davis starts getting 30 min a game. HE brings a new athleticness to the celtics that they were lacking. He should be able to be an awesome defender since he seems very very quick. HE does get the shortstick from the officials alot though. He gets calls that officials would never dream making on others players. That goes right along with my theory that NBA officials are terribly biased and are the worst officials in all of the major sports.

Chris Mihm has surprised me by showing off some good dunks over some other big men. I did not expect him to be able to finish like that. I am impressed and find him to appear tougher than Battie, so that would be an improvment.

This trade coudl turn out to be good for both teams.

Deion was wrong (and i'm not just talking about his clothes)...

The only cbs studio guy who did NOT pick the pats, was the almighty Deion Sanders. He is, was and will always be a Jackass , who was overrated as a CB and is a horrible dresser.

Why I Hate Web Logs
"As we can see, clearly weblogs are fucking retarded as a general rule. Most weblog authors either think they have something important to say (self-centered and egotistical authors), or believe that they have an audience that cares what they think (delusional and irrational authors.) What can be plainly seen is that most weblog authors need something to push them back into the real world from the self-centered and delusional world they have created for themselves. "

It almost makes me feel ashamed. Almost.

And I was going to go to loon on sunday to snowboard?

http://www.boston.com/news/local/new_hampshire/articles/2004/01/07/man_dies_after_snowboarding_accident_at_loon/

LINCOLN, N.H. -- A 21-year-old Hudson man has died after a snowboarding fall at Loon Mountain.

Louis Cecere died Monday at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after more than two days on life support. Cecere was snowboarding with two friends Saturday, when he went over a jump and landed on his head.

"The board hit first, and it immediately caught the edge," said Scott Selfridge, one of his friends. "It threw him into the trail."

Cecere's family still has the helmet he was wearing Saturday. They said it was only the second time he had worn one in 10 years on the slopes. The Ceceres said they believe the death could have been prevented if the jump was built differently, saying the landing area essentially forced Cecere into a fall.

Loon Mountain said the accident is under investigation.

The perfect punishment for Pete Rose

Since alot of people think Pete Rose should nto enter the hall of fame, because its just a way for him to make money here is the solution:

Put him in the Hall of Fame with some conditions.
  • He can never advertise himself as Hall of Famer Pete Rose, or use the Hall in any way to promote himself.
  • no induction speech, to limit what he can say about the matter.

I think this will satisfy all the parties. Pete Rose the player has hall of fame stats. If he did not get caught betting on baseball the man would already be in, so we must right this wrong. As a person, Pete Rose fails.

remember this is the Baseball Hall of Fame, not the Great People who played Baseball hall of fame.

    Vinny takes a step back

"According to a league source, once Baker goes past strike three, the team has the right to terminate his contract, but such a step is not a foregone conclusion."

Wow, so maybe this mans misfortune could help the team out and get rid of his wickedly overpriced contract.

    more pete...

Jack Lang, longtime secretary-treasurer of the BBWAA and a member of the writers' wing of the Hall of Fame, said he would not vote for Rose.

"I would sum it up this way," Lang said. "Does he belong in the Hall of Fame? Yes. Does he deserve it? No."

Knicks get marbury from the suns ...

and give up alot to do it.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&id=1700962

    THe breakdown looks like this:
Traded Antonio McDyess, Howard Eisley, Charlie Ward, Maciej Lampe, the rights to Milos Vujanic and two first-round draft picks to Phoenix for Stephon Marbury, Penny Hardaway and Cezary Trybanski.

We will start with what New York gave up.
  • McDyess, nice guy was once a player, his salary comes off the books this year.
  • Eisley and Ward, would be decent backup point guards, but i think they might make too much money (no stats for me to back that up right now).
  • Maciej Lampe, the 1st pick of the second round after dropping fast from the high first round. Was considered a steal int he 2nd roudn after contract problems scared away many in the first round. Might actually get to play in pheonix!!.
  • Vujanic: potentially a good point guard who can shoot like Peja.
  • 2 first round picks: as far as I know they are unprotected. even with the knicks in the east these coudl easily be lottery picks for the suns.

    Now the Suns.
  • Marbury, one of the better point guards in the league when he wants to be. He can score, he can pass. Led the Suns to their surprising season last year, can he do with the knicks back in his hometown?
  • Hardaway, once traded for Chris Webber. Hes an old vet who can still put up some points on a given day. solid back up SG.
  • Trybanski: NO CLUE!

    How it turns out:
It turns out as a good deal for the knicks if marbury leads them to the playoffs the next two years. other wise those draft picks will loom large. Pheonix was going nowhere this year with Amare hurt and the west stacked. They get some cap relief with McDeyss contract coming off the books.

Pheonix is in a win-win situation, Knicks are in a win-lose big situation.

    bragging rights

Well, I do like to toot my own horn (and I brag sometimes too :) ), so here it is from ESPN.com:
    ESPN.com's Sports City's rankings!

As you can notice, some how two cities beat my beloved Boston. However these cities had only 2 (two?!?!) teams.

Poor Bostonians only made it to #1 in the real sports cities (with 3 or more teams, in our case 4 teams, one in each major sport).

So incase anyone was asking, yes we are better than you.

Charlie Hustle admits to betting on baseball

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1700618

In his book, Pete Rose admits to betting on baseball. This is the offense that led to him being banned form baseball for 14 years, thus keeping him out of the Hall of Fame.

So I say, let's get him into the hall of fame but keep him out of baseball. Not everyone in the Hall of Fame is a nice guy (i.e. Ty 'big racist' Cobb), but they are good baseball players. Plus this will stop all those Pete Rose stories and the man can finally fade away.

It is a cruel cruel game ...

On saturday afternoons at 12:30, on NBC, there is a show called Endurance 2. This is one of the cruelest games I have ever seen. Think a game like survivor. No one gets voted off. There are temple missions where the winner sends 2 teams to the temple where they face off to see who stays and who leaves. Now this is where the game gets fun/cruel. The team members (of which one is a girl, one a boy) now have all seen survivor so they try to create teams and alliances.

Did I mention that these are 13-14 year old kids? As if that was not a cruel enough age to begin with, these kids are now put into a situation where they need to lie and manipulate the other players. Last year one girl used her feminine qualities to totally bamboozle one of the males on another team by pretendign to like him.

    OH THE FUN!
I do suggest watching an episode if you have the time on a saturday afternoon.

finally someone is pickingup on my ideas

I have said that since todays NBA's players are all 7 feet tall an wirey the court is smaller than it used to be. I feel they need to widen the court so as to make the defenses have to extedn further out to guard their men and thus open up the court. It is the same deal as the NHL is lookign to do in makign the rinks wider.
