Walkin' down the street.
We get the funniest looks from
Ev’ry one we meet.
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees!!
And people say we monkey around.
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.
lol, This got flashed up on me on the Boston Globe and made me laugh. It's just a funny looking picture and immediatly remind me of the opening scenes of The Monkees.

USA Basketball loses again

In the wake of another 'Dream Team' losing another international basketball game, I think I need to weigh in. First off, I don't know about you guys, but my Dream Team would not include Carlos Boozer. Not that he doesn't deserve to be on the team, but does he or Shawn Marion sound dreamy to you? Duncan, yes of course. Lebron and Carmelo young and dreamy. Let's face it though. The DREAM TEAM was a one time occurance. Athletes that were the best in their sport (and Laettner) all on one team. You don't see athletes from the other countries trying to pose with Duncan and AI during the games like you did with Larry, Jordan and Magic do you?
I think you really knew the DREAM TEAM was a misnomer when Hakeem Olajuwon suited up. No offense to him, great player. He deserved to be one of the top 50 the NBA mentioned a few years ago. However, we had to import a big man from Africa, get him citizenship and then jam him on the team. That was drawing the line for me.
But, I digress. The USOC is now sending these players to the games, with their eyes on marketing (selling shirts) and not with winning ball games. That is a shame. I have more to say, but I have to go buy my Olympic Marion shirt while there are still some available ...

"I've seen Youkilis in the shower, and I wouldn't call him the Greek god of anything"
-- Red Sox manager Terry Francona on Kevin Youkilis. Youkilis was called the "Greek God of Walks" in "Money Ball" by Oakland A's GM Billy Beane

Dean calls out the timing of the new terror alerts
"Every time something happens that's not good for President Bush, he plays this trump card, which is terrorism," Dean said on CNN. "His whole campaign is based on the notion that 'I can keep you safe; therefore, in times of difficulty for America, stick with me,' and then out comes Tom Ridge. It's just impossible to know how much of this is real and how much of this is politics."
This agrees nicely with my theory that Bush is ruling through fear. He is using the terrorist threat (real or imagined) to control the people.
"An incumbent administration always has some ability to set the agenda, but I think this is a double-edged sword, because as the administration acknowledges the ongoing threat Al Qaeda poses, it once again calls into question the validity of its decision to go into Iraq. . . . It causes the American people to scratch their heads and say 'Why are we devoting all this energy and resources to a country that had nothing to do with the threat?' "

Nomar is FINALLY gone

"I think he'll be great there," said one NL executive. "He's an every-day player who plays every day. He loves to play. He's the type of guy who wants to stay in the game even if he's losing, 10-0. He's a very good player who wasn't hitting very well. But he's still a very good player. He plays hard. He hustles. And he's a very good shortstop. Put him in front of those 34,000 people in Fenway every day, and I bet he'll be energized by the whole experience. And it won't hurt that he's playing for a contract."
btw we got speedster dave roberts from LA too.
